Roberts Co Forges Forward in 2025 with New Leadership Team

"Our dedication to excellence through our team of highly skilled people and building strong partnerships is the foundation of our success." Emma Shipley, Managing Director

Roberts Co is proud to announce key leadership changes as the company continues its growth across Australia.

After two dedicated years, Matt Bourne has made the decision to step down from his role as CEO.  As CEO, Matt played an important role integrating the Victorian business post our acquisition of ProBuild Victoria and navigating Roberts Co through the challenges of the post-COVID landscape. The company extends its gratitude to Matt for his leadership and commitment across his tenure.

Leading the next phase, Roberts Co welcomes George Kostas as Executive Chairman and Emma Shipley as Managing Director, a proven partnership for over 20 years having first worked together at Multiplex.

George joined the RF Group in 2016, being an associated entity to Roberts Co, following an impressive tenure as CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Properties and 14 years at Multiplex, where he served as Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand.

Emma, a familiar face within Roberts Co, brings extensive industry expertise as the companys inaugural CFO and COO for the RF Group and previously at Mutliplex and Built. Emma also brings board experience and entrepreneurial nous with ventures in the wine industry. Her strategic acumen and leadership will be instrumental as Roberts Co prepares for its next stage of growth as it consolidates and expands its presence in key sectors.

Emma Shipley, Managing Director, expressed her enthusiasm for the future:

I am thrilled to lead Roberts Co into its next phase of growth. Our dedication to excellence through our team of highly skilled people and building strong partnerships is the foundation of our success. Together with our incredible teams led by Damian Vella in NSW, Seamus Egan in Victoria and Patrick Hickey for Monaco Hickey, we will continue to push boundaries and create lasting value for our clients and the industry.”

To align operations nationally, Roberts Co is consolidating all three markets across NSW, Victoria and Western Australia, focusing on core sectors: Education, Health, Life Sciences, Specialist Technical Facilities, Data and Distribution Centres, and BTR. The company is proud to have recently secured major projects across key markets:

  • Victoria: Record-breaking automated robotic distribution centre for Amazon and the BioNTech mRNA Manufacturing Facility.
  • NSW: Home Parramatta Build-to-Rent development.
  • WA: Joint venture with WeBuild for the $1.8 billion Women and Babies Hospital Project.

Roberts Co has significantly expanded its workforce, attracting top talent and strengthening its reputation as a trusted industry leader. In July 2024, Roberts Co joined the Australian Constructors Association (ACA), highlighting its dedication to fostering a sustainable and collaborative construction industry. This partnership reflects Roberts Cos commitment to advancing the wellbeing and fairness of the sector while delivering value-driven solutions for its teams, clients, and partners.
