Roberts Co Executive Chair Alison Mirams was honoured to address the graduates from UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture last week.

Alison shared her personal experiences working in the industry and offered five pieces of advice for those entering into a full-time role.

“My first piece of advice is to keep your thinking fresh as you move into organisations that will tell you why things can’t be done.

My second piece of advice is to choose your attitude.

My third piece of advice is when you get an opportunity, take it and run with it. Don’t question why it was given to you.

My fourth piece of advice is to always act with decency and genuine care.

My last piece of advice is that relationships matter. The property and construction industry is small and you will come to realise its two degrees of separation. There is also very little we achieve on our own, we always work in teams.”
