Project Update: March 2022

"Following another eventful year in 2021 with a lot to navigate outside of our control, it has been great to kick off 2022 with a lot of exciting news, for things in our control." Alison Mirams, CEO

2022 so far has presented a few challenges outside of our control but despite setbacks caused by severe weather events and COVID-19, our teams have made amazing progress.

Key project highlights include:

Baxter Road Hotel

Fantastic progress has been made on the Baxter Road Hotel so far, thanks to the project team. The structure up to the level 1(A) and level 2(B) suspended decks have now been completed, as well as erection of ground floor to level 2 boundary precast walls. The passenger lift jumpform is currently at level 3, guestroom tile selections have been resolved and 90% design submission to Marriot has been issued.

MQX4

MQX4 Project has continued to build momentum despite the challenging environment with Covid and rain. Structure works have progressed with the Jumpform now out of the ground and modified at Level 1. Slabs are now up to Ground Floor and fit-out works have commenced in the basements. The team have finalised the design, completing all contract obligations while obtaining remaining authority approvals allowing for final Construction Certificates to be issued shortly. 91% of packages have been let, with remaining packages currently out to tender with a target of April to complete all procurement.

Schools at Meadowbank Education and Employment Precinct

The SMEEP project achieved Occupation Certification 25 Feb 2022. All witness testing, commissioning and defect inspections have been completed. Defect rectification is in progress.

All specialist rooms and equipment have been completed to canteens, performing arts, visual arts, science labs, metal work, wood work, secondary school gymnasium and primary school communal hall.

External works including handball, volleyball, basketball, netball and futsal courts as well as play equipment have been completed.

1.3km of Public Domain works outside the project’s boundary have also been completed with the exception of recently requested new street light installation which is scheduled for completion 7 March 2022 – weather permitting.

Several stakeholder inspections have been undertaken, an overwhelmingly positive response to the product being delivered has been received from all stakeholders.

Sydney Olympic Park High School

The early works package involving demolition and environmental testing has now been completed. Our main Works Offer and a Detailed Design Report was submitted to SINSW on 16th of February for review and approval.

Design development is progressing with documentation for CC1 being a priority, the main focus for the project is responding to client queries in relation to the Main Works Offer and Detailed Design Report and progressing design ready to start onsite. The team has commenced procurement of trades.
