Monaco Hickey partnered with architects from the award-winning Billard Leece Partnership to build the distinctive Wallan superclinic. For such an ambitious vision, the client needed a builder with the experience to handle complex design features. These included slanted, highly articulated timber sunshades, large pop out windows and a curved hoop pine atrium ceiling. This striking façade was further enhanced with extensive external decking space, landscaping and a carpark.

The client, Nexus Primary Health, required a purpose-built healthcare facility to provide an integrated care experience. The completed superclinic features rooms for a GP practice, paediatrics, pharmacy and pathology as well as treatments and procedures. The clinic also includes a maternal healthcare facility, a community kitchen and multipurpose areas.

The completion of this project provides much needed centralised specialist medical services for the community, and means that local residents are no longer required to travel into metropolitan Melbourne for medical treatment.
