Monaco Hickey won the challenging job of constructing a state-of-the-art quarantine containment facility, built to store, monitor and assess a wide range of potentially illegal plants and animals.

Purpose built to exacting QC2 standards, this facility must simultaneously house a variety of different animal species, including fish, in temperature sensitive environments.

Meticulous attention was paid to the functionality of the facility’s glasshouse, where the temperature, humidity, irrigation, sunlight and fresh air intake into each section was monitored so that multiple plant types could be be maintained.

Days after the building was handed over, the client was able to undertake a raid, using its new facility to immediately house thousands of confiscated reptile and fish species.
