This complex project for Austin Health consisted of the complete demolition, strip-out and construction of operating theatres 3 and 4 on the second level of the Harold Stokes Building.

The extensive demolition included asbestos strip-out and clearance prior to commencement. It was paramount that dust and debris did not contaminate surrounding areas in order that adjacent theatres 1 and 2 could remain functioning throughout the project.

Infrastructure upgrades saw the installation of HVAC, lighting control, nurse call points, body protection, new medical gases and operating theatre pendants, and flow plenums.

Monaco Hickey provided careful planning and tight logistical controls to ensure successful delivery of the project, while fully implementing a detailed commissioning and validation process, enabling the renovated theatres to go back into operation.

All theatres endured minimal disruption and remained fully operational during the course of the project, which was delivered on time and within budget.
