Roberts Co’s two cranes at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead now each have a name, thanks to the creativity of the families of Westmead and surrounding regions, with winners announced for the ‘Name the Cranes’ competition.
The names ‘Skye Lifter’ and ‘Friendship’ are now proudly displayed on the cranes which are supporting construction of the $619 million Stage 2 Redevelopment of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
More than 100 entries were received from patients, families, staff, volunteers, and school students who submitted creative names – along with colourful drawings.
Health Infrastructure Acting Executive Director, Northern Region Hayley Bell said the crane names were selected by representatives from the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network redevelopment team, Health Infrastructure and Roberts Co.
“The winning names were considered stand outs for their creative explanation and symbolism of the name,” Ms Bell said.
Roberts Co State Director – NSW, Damian Vella said it was rewarding to see this level of engagement from the families of Westmead and surrounding regions.
“I would like to congratulate Margaret Playle and Hanshika Karthikeyan for their winning submissions, along with all of the entrants. This project is a significant step forward for the Westmead Health Precinct, solidifying its position as one of the world’s largest health, research, education, and training precincts. We are looking forward to our continued partnership with Health Infrastructure to bring such a significant project to the community.”
