Roberts Co is committed to building a better way and one of those ways is by implementing a solar powered construction methodology at our logistics centre project in Victoria.
Instead of relying on traditional diesel generators for power in a new industrial estate where authority power isn’t yet available, our team has developed a groundbreaking renewable energy hybrid microgrid, providing power to the site office and amenities. This system combines a 100 kW solar panel array with a 250 kWh battery, supplemented by a small diesel generator as a backup.
The result? Generating approximately 3,000 kWh per month while avoiding nearly 97% of CO2 emissions compared to a traditional diesel setup. This innovative approach is set to save around 1,850 tonnes of CO2 and $650,000 over the project’s lifespan.
The system is designed to be smart and efficient. Power is primarily drawn from the battery, which is recharged by the solar array. The diesel generator only kicks in during prolonged periods of cloud cover, making this a highly sustainable solution.
The entire operation can be monitored in real time through our system dashboard, ensuring optimal performance and transparency.
At Roberts Co, we’re proud to be making a positive impact on the environment while delivering high-quality projects for our clients.
