Roberts Co has developed a customised Minecraft app that aims to teach children in a fun and creative way about the new Paediatric Services Building (PSB) at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead being delivered by Health Infrastructure as part of the NSW Government’s $619 million Stage 2 redevelopment.
While construction continues outside, children can explore the new hospital building inside the world of Minecraft and make it their own, creating their own design with a chance to win prizes.
Roberts Co Project Manager, Melissa Jones said interactive activities like Minecraft allow patients and their siblings to learn and engage with new building, before it opens to the public.
“We really want to meaningfully connect with patients and young people in the community, who will ultimately be the users of the new hospital. The Minecraft game was created to entertain, educate and create a sense of curiosity about the new Paediatric Services Building.”
To coincide with the launch of the Minecraft competition, the project team held an event with the Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia. The event included building activities and a Q&A with the Roberts Co team which was broadcasted to the wards via Starlight TV.
