500 Women in Property is an initiative of the Property Council of Australia’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committees across Australia.
It requires a personal commitment from Property Council Members (women and men) to identify and champion women in their organisation or business sphere. The program aims to accelerate more women into leadership positions in the property industry through sponsorship of high-potential talent.
Roberts Co are proud to have four women on the 500 Women in Property initiative, and four women on the Cultivate Sponsorship program. Importantly, members of our Senior Leadership Team are sponsoring each of these talented women.
Alison Mirams, Executive Chair, recently spoke about her two sponsors and their influence on her career.
“My first sponsor was John Humphreys, my first boss when I was a cadet Quantity Surveyor. John took me on every site inspection, sent me to every software training course and spent many hours patiently teaching me.
My second sponsor was Jim McGreevy, who pulled me up with him as he rose through the ranks. I never asked for a promotion. Jim saw the potential in me when I was young and continued to provide opportunities for me to learn and excel. He took a risk promoting me to a NSW Director at 32 years of age. Jim taught me so much and I still lean on his words of wisdom and advice today.”
