Improvements to the culture of Australia’s construction industry are being tested with five construction sites across NSW and Victoria piloting a new culture standard earmarked for broader adoption by government and industry clients.
The new Culture Standard will help address the long work hours and mental health affecting the construction industry in a bid to improve productivity and attract more workers, including women.
Gabrielle Trainor AO, Chair of the Construction Industry Culture Taskforce (CICT) behind the new Standard, said the pilots are a collaborative effort to change an industry with some of Australia’s worst statistics on gender diversity and wellbeing, with working hours out of step with other industries.
It was an honour to host NSW Treasurer, Matt Kean MP, Minister for Infrastructure, Cities and Active Transport, Rob Stokes and Minister for Roads, The Hon Natalie Ward MLC yesterday at the Moxy Sydney Airport Hotel site, joined by Roberts Co CEO, Alison Mirams.
